Christmas Tree Decorating
This is a guest post courtesy of Gail Leino:
Nothing gets you into the spirit of the holiday season as putting up those Christmas tree decorations. Indeed, for many families the setting
up of the Christmas tree is an event in itself as all the members gather together and contribute their loving touch to its adornment. It is so
important for most that the look of the tree be just perfect; maybe because the Christmas tree best symbolizes that most magical time of the year
and the image of it in all its beauty and splendor remains with us all through the year. So if you are looking for some ideas on how to improve
your Christmas tree decorating with clever party supplies to make this holiday season extra special
for you and your loved ones, read on.
Choosing a Christmas holiday theme: The first rule about Christmas tree decoration is to have a theme. If you haphazardly hang up any and every
ornament out there that appeal to you what you are going to get at the end of the day is quite a tacky looking tree. So start by picturing in
your mind’s eye the end result you desire and think of a concept for your decorations.
A simple yet elegant theme for your Christmas tree decorations could be based on colors. Choose two complimentary colors like, red and gold or
blue and silver and decorate your tree in entirely in those shades. Alternatively you might like to choose a theme that inherently speaks of
Christmas like gingerbread men or angels.
Another idea is to personalize the Christmas tree decorations by choosing ornaments that reflect somehow how to yourself or your family. For
example you could theme the ornaments around your favorite sports team or use some family pictures in the decorations.
Hanging the Christmas Tree Ornaments:
Once you have the theme for your Christmas tree decorations all planned out and have gone out to the store and purchased the ornaments, its time
to decorate the tree. Start by hanging up the lights. Take care to wrap around the lights so that the bulbs are evenly distributed and the wire
is concealed. The lights should not be too prominent as after all their purpose is only to accent the tree and the ornaments. This point would be
the best time to hang up the tinsel and garland as well.
Now comes the best part of the Christmas tree decoration – hanging of the ornaments. Take your time with this step as occasions such as these are
what create life-long memories. So take joy in every moment of it; put on that CD of Christmas
songs on the system and get the entire family involved in the process.
And that joy doesn't have to end when you've got your tree
beautifully decorated; you can now turn to the Christmas
stockings that hang from the a fireplace or at the end of a
child's bed. These can be decorated with ribbon or tinsel in much the
same way as your tree. In the stockings it's traditional to place an orange to represent
the bag of gold that Saint Nicholas gave as gifts, or you can add a
lump of coal for any naughty children!
Two things you need to take care of while hanging up the Christmas tree decorations is to make sure they are evenly distributed and balanced and
to try to get the lights to illuminate the ornaments so that they are accented. It is also a good idea to hang ornaments a little deeper into the
branches rather than just at the tips so that it gives more depth to the tree. But the most important thing of all to remember is to have fun
while doing your Christmas decorations. As after all the setting up of the tree is what
kicks off the magical season of joy and cheer.
